Army Family Support: Who to Call and What They Do

In the Army, your unit's family support runs through the Soldier and Family Readiness Group (SFRG), and the professional backbone is Army Community Service (ACS).

The SFRG is your unit link

The SFRG is a command-sponsored group, renamed from the FRG in 2019. It carries official information between the unit and families, points you to resources, and is busiest during deployments.

ACS is the professional office

Army Community Service on post handles relocation, financial readiness, emergency help, the Exceptional Family Member Program, and referrals. This is where the practical help lives.

For your baby

Ask ACS about the New Parent Support Program: home visits, parenting classes, and playgroups for families with young children.

What it does not do

It connects and refers. For custody, landlord, or debt disputes, use the base Legal Assistance office, not the SFRG.
