Does the CDC (Military Child Care) Provide Diapers?
2 min read
No. At the military Child Development Center (CDC), parents supply the diapers, wipes, and diaper cream. The center does not hand them out. You keep your child's supply stocked and labeled, and the staff use it through the day. Here is exactly what you provide and what the CDC covers.
What you provide
For any child not yet toilet trained, you bring the diapers and wipes, and you keep enough on hand at the center. You also provide diaper rash cream if your child uses it. All of it must be labeled with your child's first and last name, which is required at every military CDC.
Diaper cream is a permission thing
CDC staff can apply diaper rash cream, but only with your written permission on file, usually renewed once a year, and only the labeled tube you supplied. It has to be a store-bought product, not homemade or nut-based. When your child no longer needs it, the tube comes home.
What the CDC does supply
The center provides and applies sunscreen, using a brand approved by the base medical advisor, with your permission on file. That one is on them, not you. If you want a different sunscreen used, most centers require a note from your doctor.
Why it works this way
The CDC is child care, not a diaper program. Supplying your own keeps your baby on the diapers and cream that work for their skin, which matters if your child is prone to rash. It also means you need a reliable diaper supply at home, and no federal program covers routine diapers, so knowing the free-diaper resources helps if money is tight.
The short version
The CDC does not provide diapers, wipes, or cream. You supply all three, labeled with your child's name, and keep them stocked. The CDC provides sunscreen. Policies vary slightly by installation, so check your center's parent handbook.
