Navy Family Support: Who to Call and What They Do
In the Navy, your unit link is the command Ombudsman, and the professional hub is the Fleet & Family Support Center (FFSC).
The Ombudsman is your unit link
The Ombudsman is a volunteer appointed by the commanding officer who moves information between the command and families and provides referrals. This is different from the Family Readiness Group, which is the volunteer social and support network.
The FFSC is the professional office
The Fleet & Family Support Center handles relocation, finances, deployment support, counseling, and referrals.
For your baby
Ask the FFSC about the New Parent Support Program: home visits, classes, and playgroups for families with young children.
What it does not do
It connects and refers. For custody, landlord, or debt disputes, use the base Legal Assistance office.
